A Life Worth Living

Have You Taken a Minute to Reflect, to Find Yourself?

I reckon the most profound and thought provoking question humanity has managed to come up with is, What Makes Life Worth Living?

This is a question which isn't conducive to immediate thoughtful responses, but given a week to think about it, I doubt the answers would be any better.

There is somewhat some resistance to answering this question honestly and I think the reason people answer in such unsatisfying ways is that, we’ve grown so used to defining ourselves in terms of possessions, possessions that literally feel like extensions of ourselves, making it hard to think of even the people close to us in any way other than as possessions, as “objects” with certain qualities that make us happy. This may also go for careers, passions etc.

I deem it fit to break this question down, personalize it a bit - see it a bit as a verb and not so much as a noun. What makes your life worth living, what is the real essence of your existence, what is your main cause for getting up each morning??

I'll share with you some of the things which make my life worth living...

RELATING
CREATING

One might wonder why I'm not saying My Family or Daughter but instead Relating and Creating. That is because my family alone is not what makes my life worth living. Sounds strange and wrong doesn't it? How can Pam say such a thing?? Well that is simply because the family alone is just an object. I mentioned earlier that we tend to objectify even the people closest to us. Well, what makes my life worth living is how I RELATE with my family on a day to day basis, the relationships I strive to CREATE and maintain with them day in and out. It's word and feelings in action, not a noun nor object.

AWAKENING TO DREAMS
A life worth living is one where you are awakened to goals, dreams, aspirations, probabilities. To me, it is a life where you are constantly searching deep within yourself and finding worth. No one finds a life worth living, one has to make life worth living.

ENABLING AND SERVING
Personally, my passion alone is not what makes my life worth living. What I am able to achieve and enable as well as who I am able to serve with my passion is what makes it so much more worth it. A life worth living is one where I am able to help another, not out of want for a reward or recognition but because you too have once been in need and know that serving those around you is the most fulfilling feeling.

DISCOVER NEW HORIZONS
What is life without new discoveries? Adventures and explorations? New knowledge and added knowledge to what you already know? Life is more fulfilling when you are still able to learn something each day, to learn from areas and avenues you never thought you would or even could. Keep life exciting, save up, visit a place you never have before, explore, tap into your spiritual being, you'll be amazed at how powerful and profound you can be...

These are just a few of the things that make my life worth living, but model of the story is, learn to LIVE life, it's a doing word, learn to feel, learn to act, learn to explore, learn to do, learn to relate, adopt and adapt...

A life worth living can only be defined by YOU

  3. Great writing my love. Everyday is an opportunity to create that life, take time moulding it. Enjoy each moment of doing so,whether you experience good or the opposite, they go together and create that amazing life.

  5. Never stop learning cause life will always present opportunities to learn. "... as well as who I am able to serve with my passion is what makes it so much more worth it." - this is the ultimate goal in life, it is said we have never really lived until we find someone whom we don't even know and serve them. I love how you break the "relate" and "create" part because you are so right, we may have families yet no relations with them. #AlifeWorthLiving
